We’re thrilled to see our little friends in the classroom – finally – on Monday, June 1
Since March, we’ve been watching closely to see how / when we could open our doors amidst the era of coronavirus. As our families return to work and Arizona begins opening back up, we’ve determined to open our school on Monday!

It’s our view that there is no “return to normal,” nor is there a great time to open since the coronavirus is still circulating. Instead, we ask all families to continue to be extremely careful in their social activities by maintaining distance and avoiding contact with public spaces as much as possible. Here at SVLC, we’re doing the same, and have worked hard to determine a “new normal” as we open. We’ve created a protocol taking into account the risks of COVID in our daily activities. In order to continue to protect our families and keep everyone safe, we’ve implemented the following hygiene protocol to sanitize, protect and monitor:

As an added measure, we’re installing HEPA-grade air filters for the classroom with a 4-stage filter system:
- Pre-Filter: This filters out larger particles and dust before it enters the unit.
- H13 HEPA Filter: This true HEPA filters contaminants to a level of 0.3 microns. This includes filtering of dust mites, viruses, bacteria, and even mold spores.
- Active Carbon Filter: This filter uses a bed of activated carbon to remove contaminants and impurities.
- UV: Kills viruses and bacteria.
Finally, under the recommendation of the Chief Resident doctor (and sister of SVLC founder) who currently treats COVID patients at the Brigham & Women’s hospital of Boston, we’ve implemented a daily symptom-check for all families & kids at drop-off. This procedure is derived from the B&W daily screen for all staff: at morning drop-off (curbside rather than in the classroom) we screen the child and family members for symptoms. If there is a yes, the child must stay home, returning with either: a) a negative COVID-19 test from the person with symptoms, or b) wait until 14 days after the symptoms have disappeared to return to school.
We appreciate all the support and love we’ve received from our community and look forward to celebrating with you in person … soon!
